In 1998 the new vines were established. In September 2001, they were picked and
after a seven day fermentation period, put into year old oak casks. The wine was
bottled in Spring 2002 and yielded 27,000 bottles. The alcohol conent was 13.5%.
Gilly Goolden This is a wintry wine a chunky, cuddling up by the
fire kind of red. I like it a lot, it has a spicy, aromatic feel, with
sweet, ripe fruit.

Vida Nova, a red wine made from grapes grown around Sir Cliff's
Portugese villa in the Algarve, has broken all records on the
supermarket chain Tesco's website. The wine knocked the newly
released DVD blockbuster of Lord of the Rings into second place on
tesco.com for speed of sales, after three thousand bottles were sold
within a day. The wine, which is a blend of shiraz, aragonez and
trincadeira, is a cocktail of "sweet, berry and chocolate" flavours
underlined with firmer "spicy aromatic plum fruit", according to
the experts.

The company said it had been `besieged` with inquiries about the
next consignment to come from Sir Cliff`s vineyard on the
Algarve, Portugal. Visitors to Tesco.com bought the wine, called
Vida Nova, at a rate of one case per second when it went on sale
for the first time last year. This year the company has doubled its
supply to 1,000 cases selling at £50.94 for a case of six bottles.

The 2003 vintage also contains the grape Mourvedre and 44,000 bottles have
been produced of the red and 4,700 of a rose wine which is only available in
Portugal.
Cliff already had old vines and fig trees growing but with the help of David Baverstock an
Australian Winemaker, 8 hectares of new vines were planted, 3.5 ha of Shiraz, 2.5 ha of
Aragonez (Tempranillo), 1.5ha of Trincadeira and 0.5ha of Moirvedre.
